When Do SAT Scores Come Out?

Release timing for each test date, the annual calendar, how to read your report, and what to do if scores are late.

Typical release timing

For weekend SAT dates in the US, College Board usually releases scores about two weeks after the test, most often on a Friday morning (Eastern time), with scores appearing in your College Board account through the day. School-day administrations can take slightly longer, and international dates sometimes differ by a few days. The exact dates are published on College Board’s SAT dates page each year.

The 2026–27 test calendar

The SAT is offered seven times a year in the US: March, May, June, August, October, November and December. Registration deadlines fall a few weeks before each test date; check College Board’s dates page for the exact cut-off. If a college has an application deadline, count back: a score from the October test is typically in hand by early November, in time for most regular-decision deadlines; a December score usually arrives just before the new year.

How to read your score report

Your report shows your total (400–1600), your two section scores (200–800), and percentiles for each. It also breaks each section into content domains with a performance band, which is the most useful part for planning a retake. Use the percentile tables to see where each number ranks, and the per-score pages (for example is 1200 a good SAT score) for what a total means for admissions.

Sending scores to colleges

You can send scores free to a limited number of colleges at registration and for a short window afterward; later sends carry a fee. Colleges that superscore combine your best sections across the dates you send, so send the dates that help. Most colleges receive scores within about a week to ten days of your order.

If your score is late

A small share of scores are held for extra review, and some school-day scores arrive after the weekend batch. Check your College Board account first, then contact College Board if a score is more than a week past the published date. Delays rarely affect applications, since colleges know the release calendar.
